Power play goals help BGSU topple Western Michigan

BOWLING GREEN — The Western Michigan Broncos came galloping into Slater Family Ice Arena as part of the continuing hockey series with Bowling Green State University but were tamed by Falcons goalie Eric Dop and stout offensive attack 2-1.

After a scoreless first period, BG’s Frederic LeTourneau was able to finally get a puck past WMU goalie Brandon Bussi on a power play with 7 seconds remaining in the second period. TJ Lloyd and Max Johnson assisted on the goal.

It was LeTourneau’s first goal of the year.

Despite a wide shot disparity favoring the BG, the Broncos managed to tie the game midway through the third period on Hugh McGing’s goal.

Just less than two minutes later, BG would storm back during a power play on a goal by Max Johnson that was assisted from Alec Rauhauser.

Dop stopped 20 of 21 shots for his second win of the season.
