Michigan Tech snaps Bowling Green hockey's winning streak

BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green hockey team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday, as Michigan Tech claimed a 4-2 victory in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest at the Slater Family Ice Arena.

Michigan Tech (3-3-0, 1-3-0 WCHA) scored three goals in the second period to take control of the game. Bowling Green (4-3-0, 1-1-0) had claimed a 3-1 win over the Huskies in the series opener Friday.

Tommy Parrottino recorded a natural hat trick for Michigan Tech, scoring three in a row at 11:45 of the second period, 18:15 of the second period, and 11:16 of the third period. His final goal came on a power play.

Parrottino’s hat trick opened up what was a 1-1 contest. Parker Saretsky opened scoring for Michigan Tech at 5:46 of the second period, but Bowling Green’s Max Johnson netted an equalizer a minute later off assists from Alex Barber and Brandon Kruse.

TJ Lloyd added a Bowling Green goal off assists from Barber and Kruse at 14:27 of the third period.

Bowling Green edged Michigan Tech 27-25 in shots on goal. Zack Rose had 21 saves for the Falcons.
