Second period lifts BGSU hockey over Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Alex Barber, Brandon Kruse, and Alec Rauhauser scored goals in a 10-minute span of the second period to lead 16th-ranked Bowling Green State University to a 5-2 victory over No. 5 Notre Dame on Friday night at Compton Family Ice Arena.

The second period started with the teams tied 1-1 after Casey Linkenheld scored his second goal of the season for the Falcons in the first period.

Barber scored his second goal of the season at the 7:32 mark, Kruse scored at 14:42, and Rauhauser scored at 17:07 to give Bowling Green a 4-1 lead.

It was Rauhauser’s 100th point with the Falcons.

BG hockey faces another test with series vs. No. 5 Notre Dame

Frederic Letourneau scored for the Falcons with 5:53 gone in the third period.

Goalie Eric Dop had 27 saves to get the victory.

Bowling Green improved to 9-5-0.

The teams will play Saturday at 7:07 p.m. at Slater Family Ice Arena.
