Bowling Green hockey plays to tie with Miami on road

OXFORD, Ohio — Austen Swankler’s goal toward the end of the second period against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks kept the Bowling Green Falcons (1-0-2) unbeaten in the early 2021-22 season as the two teams tied 2-2 at Goggin Ice Center.

It was the freshman forward’s first goal of the season.

Neither team was able to net a winner in the third period nor in the 5-minute overtime session.

Sophomore forward Ethan Scardina’s goal at 6:49 in the second period helped cut the Falcons’ deficit to 2-1 after the RedHawks jumped out to a two-goal lead.

Junior goalie Zack Rose stopped 30 shots for Bowling Green.

Miami’s (1-3-1) goal scorers were Joe Cassetti and Alec Capstick.

BGSU returns to Slater Family Ice Arena against the RedHawks on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m. for the Orange Out game.
