Bowling Green hockey falls at No. 3 Minnesota State

MANKATO, Minn. — The Bowling Green State University hockey team lost its series finale to No. 3 Minnesota State 5-3 on Saturday night.

Alex Barber, Gabriel Chicoine, Taylor Schneider, and Austen Swankler had multi-point nights in a losing effort for the Falcons (5-2-3, 3-3-0 CCHA). Barber, Schneider, and Nathan Burke each scored power-play goals.

For Minnesota State (9-3-0, 5-1-0 CCHA), Julian Napravnik opened the scoring and Ondrej Pavel and Lucas Sowder tacked on first-period tallies. BG didn't score until putting two on the board in the second period.

The Mavericks then got third-period goals from Benton Maass and Sam Morton in the third period to secure the win. Barber's goal for BG came in between the two goals for Minnesota State in the final period.

Bowling Green goaltender Christian Stoever made 29 saves, but allowed five goals to pick up the loss. Minnesota State's goalie Dryden McKay got the win by making 12 saves on 15 shots.

The Falcons return home for a two-game series with Lake Superior State beginning on Friday.
