Bowling Green State University junior running back Terion Stewart announced on Sunday that he will miss the upcoming football season, via his personal Twitter account.
Stewart, in his statement, said he will miss the season to “focus more on my health and academic responsibilities.”
The 5-9, 210-pound Sandusky High School graduate led the Falcons in rushing the past two seasons.
“I know this will be hard for me, but will better me as a person,” Stewart also said. “I love every moment [my family and friends] shared with me, and all the love you guys show me. Football is my meditation, my medicine, and my happiness. ... It will not be a long time before I come back. I wish my boys the best as they take this year over. ... I pray for the best of all y’all boys on the field. #TALONSUP #forever4 .”

Last season, Stewart posted team-highs in rushing yards (412), rushing touchdowns (five), and yards per attempt (5.9) on 70 carries in just nine games.
Stewart broke out in a big way for the Falcons in the 2020 season, rushing for 162 yards against Kent State in his second collegiate game. He finished the five-game coronavirus-shortened season with 295 yards on 37 carries (8.0 ypc) and four touchdowns.
Sophomore Jaison Patterson (271 yards, 2 TDs) was also expected to figure into BGSU’s running back mix behind Stewart.
BGSU, 4-8 overall last year, opens up its season at UCLA on Sept. 3 in Pasadena, Calif.
