Goal in 3rd period sinks Bowling Green hockey against Michigan Tech

BOWLING GREEN — Logan Ganie’s goal 6:04 into the third period was all Michigan Tech needed to defeat Bowling Green 3-2 on Friday in a CCHA contest at the Slater Family Ice Arena.

The host Falcons had tied the game at 2 with 2:03 to go in the second period on Ethan Scardina’s short-handed goal, unassisted.

Michigan Tech’s Parker Saretsky opened scoring at 14:11 of the first. The Falcons’ Anton Malmstrom squared things at 9:11 of the second off assists from Scardina and Ben Wozney.

Ryland Mosley’s goal with 3:44 to go in the second gave Michigan Tech (5-2-1, 1-1-1 CCHA) a temporary one-goal lead.

Bowling Green (2-7, 1-4) had a 43-38 edge in shots on goal. Christian Stoever had 35 saves.

The teams meet again at 7:07 p.m. Saturday in Bowling Green.
