BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Bowling Green State University hockey team scored six goals in less than 16 minutes of game time, and goaltender Christian Stoever turned aside all 39 shots that came his way as the Falcons won 6-0 over Ferris State on Friday night.
"The first period was a good period for us," Bowling Green coach Ty Eigner said. "Things happen fast in this rink so, for us to have a two-goal lead after the first was big. Then, in the second, we got going and had a lot of guys playing well."
Nathan Burke opened the scoring with less than six minutes left in the first period and Brett Pfoh scored minutes later for his first collegiate goal.
In the second period, Bowling Green scored four more goals — coming from Chase Gresock, Burke, Alex Barber, and Austen Swankler.
All six goals came at even strength.
Burke led the way with three points, while Barber, Schneider, Swankler, and Gresock had two-point nights.
Stoever notched his second career shutout (his first this season), and his 39 saves matched his season-high.
The teams will face off again at 7:07 p.m. on Saturday.
