BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period and knocked off Lake Superior State 5-2 in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game Friday night at Slater Family Ice Arena.
Ethan Scardina and Nathan Burke scored goals in the first period for BGSU (11-12, 8-7 CCHA), which won its third straight game. Quinn Emerson scored early in the second period to make it 3-0 BGSU, Ben Wozney tacked on his first collegiate goal to extend the lead to 4-1 midway through the third, and Zach Vinnell scored with one minute left for a 5-2 Falcons’ lead.
Freshman goaltender Salvatore Evola, who was filling in for Christian Stoever (out due to illness), had 28 saves for BGSU.
Harrison Roy scored both goals for Lake Superior State (3-16-2, 2-10-1).
