BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green State University hockey team picked up a 5-2 victory over Bemidji State on Saturday at the Slater Family Ice Arena to sweep a weekend series with the Beavers.
The Falcons topped Bemidji State 4-2 on Friday night.
On Saturday, neither team scored in the opening period, but Bowling Green took a 2-0 lead with second-period goals from Chase Gresock and a power play tally from Taylor Schneider.
Bemidji State closed the second period with a late power-play goal by Mitchell Martan to cut the Bowling Green lead to 2-1 entering the third.
The Beavers tied the game at 2 on a goal from Jackson Jutting 4:55 into the third. But the Falcons responded with the final three goals of the night.
Max Coyle scored an even-strength goal that became the game-winner 6:38 into the third.
Ethan Scardina and Anton Malmstrom added empty-net goals to help the Falcons secure the win.
Alex Barber had two assists in the game for Bowling Green.
Bowling Green goaltender Christian Stoever was excellent in net, stopping 31 of Bemidji State's 33 shots to earn the victory.
The Falcons next play at St. Thomas at 8:07 p.m. Thursday.
