Bowling Green surrenders late game-winning goal, falls 3-2 to Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Bowling Green State University’s men’s hockey team rallied from a two-goal, third-quarter deficit but Augustana won 3-2 on a late, go-ahead goal on Saturday at Midco Arena.

Arnaud Vachon got the game-winner past BGSU goalkeeper Christian Stoever with 3:56 remaining for the Vikings (1-2-0), assisted by Uula Ruikka.

The Falcons (1-2) had just tied the game 24 seconds prior on Dalton Norris’ unassisted goal.

Bowling Green first found the back of the net at the 12:15 mark of the third period as Brody Waters scored on Brayden Krieger’s assist.

Hunter Bischoff had Augustana’s first goal in the first period, while Ryan Naumovski pushed their lead to 2-0 after scoring on a power play at the 8:02 mark in the third period.

Stoever finished with 38 saves, while Augustana’s Zack Rose had 25 saves.

The two teams play again at 6:07 p.m. Sunday at Augustana.
