HOUGHTON, Mich. — Bowling Green State University hockey was eliminated from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament after a 6-5 loss to Michigan Tech on Saturday.
The No. 3 seed Huskies, one night after shutting out the No. 6 seed Falcons 5-0, took Game 2 of the best-of-3 Mason Cup quarterfinal thanks to a late goal from Ryland Mosley.
Mosley put Michigan Tech ahead for good with just 1:03 remaining in the contest. It was his second goal of the game.
The Falcons held a 2-1 lead after the first 20 minutes, but Michigan Tech took charge by outscoring BGSU 4-2 in the second period.
Goals by Isaac Gordon and Mosley’s first of the night put the Huskies ahead 3-2 just 40 seconds into the second. The Falcons, however, fired back with goals from Brett Pfoh and Ben Doran to reclaim the lead (4-3) at 10:53 of the period.
Tyrone Bronte and Jack Works each scored in the final three minutes of the second, putting Michigan Tech back on top, but then Pfoh found the back of the net for the second time, tying the game at 5 in the early minutes of the third period.
