MUNCIE, Ind. — The Bowling Green State University baseball team was on fire at the plate Saturday, picking up a 34-8 victory over Ball State. The 34 runs for the Falcons are the most in a Mid-American Conference game for BGSU in program history and the second-most BGSU runs in a game ever.
Bowling Green also set the program record for RBIs in a game with 33 and advanced to 5-0 in the MAC for the first time since 2000. They are the only remaining undefeated team in MAC play.
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a run in each of the first two innings, but a three-run second put Ball State in front 3-2. The Falcons struck for three in the top of the third, but Ball State tallied four in the bottom half for a 7-5 Ball State lead entering the fourth. The Falcons added two in the fourth to tie it, then two more in the fifth to take the lead at 9-7.
BGSU erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning before adding 14 in the eighth.
In the game, Nathan Archer and Sam Seidel both broke the program record for at-bats in a game, each with eight. Both Archer and Seidel each hit two home runs, while Garrett Wright added another for five BGSU long balls on the day.
