BGSU men's basketball accepts invitation to CollegeInsider.com tournament

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team will get another opportunity to add to its win total this season.

The Falcons accepted a bid for the 2024 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament and will host Purdue University Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Stroh Center.

"We are honored to accept the invitation to play in the CIT," first-year BGSU coach Todd Simon said in a news release. "It is a great opportunity to continue to compete with this special group for BGSU and build on a 20-win season.”

BGSU (20-13) will be making its first CIT appearance since 2015 and first postseason appearance since 2021 when the Falcons lost to Stetson in the College Basketball Invitational. BGSU, which is coming off its first Mid-American Conference tournament win since 2019 after beating Central Michigan in the quarterfinals, fell to Kent State in Friday’s semifinals.

Purdue Fort Wayne (21-12) reached a conference semifinal this season, as well, before falling to eventual Horizon League champion Oakland.
