BGSU hockey downs St. Thomas for 3rd straight win

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s hockey team picked up its third straight victory with a 4-1 victory at home over St. Thomas in Central Collegiate Hockey Association play Friday at Slater Family Ice Arena.

The Falcons notched a pair of goals 22 seconds apart to seize an early first-period lead. Both were even-strength goals.

Quinn Emerson put away his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Ryan O’Hara to make it 1-0 at 12:56 into the period. Then at the 13:08 mark, Tommy Pasanen scored an unassisted goal for the two-goal cushion.

BGSU (15-9-4, 11-6-4 CCHA) did not waste time adding to its lead in the second, as Brett Pfoh found the back of the net a little more than four minutes in for a 3-0 lead. Pasanen and Ethan Scardina assisted on the play.

Each team marked a goal over the final 20 minutes. The Falcons added to their lead thanks to an O’Hara power-play goal with a little less than three minutes to go, putting the difference at 4-0. BG finished the game 1 for 3 on the power play, while the Tommies went 0 for 3.

St. Thomas (11-13-5, 8-9-4) got on the board with 1:23 remaining, as Caige Sterzer found the back of the net.
