BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s hockey team picked up its third straight victory with a 4-1 victory at home over St. Thomas in Central Collegiate Hockey Association play Friday at Slater Family Ice Arena.
The Falcons notched a pair of goals 22 seconds apart to seize an early first-period lead. Both were even-strength goals.
Quinn Emerson put away his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Ryan O’Hara to make it 1-0 at 12:56 into the period. Then at the 13:08 mark, Tommy Pasanen scored an unassisted goal for the two-goal cushion.
BGSU (15-9-4, 11-6-4 CCHA) did not waste time adding to its lead in the second, as Brett Pfoh found the back of the net a little more than four minutes in for a 3-0 lead. Pasanen and Ethan Scardina assisted on the play.
Each team marked a goal over the final 20 minutes. The Falcons added to their lead thanks to an O’Hara power-play goal with a little less than three minutes to go, putting the difference at 4-0. BG finished the game 1 for 3 on the power play, while the Tommies went 0 for 3.
St. Thomas (11-13-5, 8-9-4) got on the board with 1:23 remaining, as Caige Sterzer found the back of the net.
For the game, BGSU held a 33-25 edge in shots on goal
In net, the Falcons’ Cole Moore stopped 24 of the 25 St. Thomas shots. Aaron Trotter halted 29 of 33 shots for the Tommies.
BGSU and St. Thomas will meet again at 7:07 p.m. Saturday back at Slater Family Ice Arena.
