BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green men’s basketball was in control Saturday, leading by double digits for a vast majority of the game in a 67-53 win over Coastal Carolina at the Stroh Center as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
The Falcons faced their only deficit of the game at 4-3 in the opening minutes, then used a 25-3 run to pull ahead and never looked back. BGSU led by double figures from the 11:12 mark of the first half through the rest of the game.
Four Bowling Green players scored in double digits, led by Derrick Butler, who put up a game-high 19 off the bench. Trey Thomas scored 12, and Marcus Johnson and Jamai Felt added 11 each.
Butler made 5 of 7 3-pointers as the Falcons shot 10 of 24 (41.7 percent) from beyond the arc despite going just 23 of 59 (39.0 percent) from the field overall.
Bowling Green (9-14) has won back-to-back games for the first time since early December.
“Good win,” BGSU coach Todd Simon said in a news release. “Good to stack two games in a row where we held a lead from beginning to end. You're starting to see some maturity. You're starting to see some of our guys healthy again.”
The Falcons held Coastal Carolina (8-17) to 21-of-58 (36.2 percent) shooting from the field and 4 of 20 (20 percent) from deep. Josh Meo was the only Chanticleer in double figures with 13 points.
BGSU will resume MAC play against Ohio at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stroh Center.
