NFL rosters feature 70 former MAC players

The NFL season will begin this week with 70 former Mid-American Conference players on roster, including a league-best 14 from the University of Toledo.

Five former MAC players made the Pro Bowl last season: Tennessee punter Brett Kern (Toledo), Oakland receiver Antonio Brown (Central Michigan), Kansas City offensive tackle Eric Fisher (Central Michigan), Chicago linebacker Khalil Mack (Buffalo), and Philadelphia guard Brandon Brooks.

New England receiver Julian Edelman (Kent State) was the Super Bowl MVP. Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (Findlay) led the NFL last season with 5,129 passing yards.

Pittsburgh has the most MAC players on its roster with nine, followed by Tennessee with six. 

Former Toledo wide receiver Cody Thompson has signed with the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad.
