Boys basketball: Ottawa Hills hands Maumee Valley first TAAC loss

OTTAWA HILLS 68, MAUMEE VALLEY 67

The Green Bears (6-3, 3-1) topped the Hawks on Tuesday in Toledo Area Athletic Conference boys basketball action thanks to some efficient free throw shooting late in the game.

Walker Kight hit the winning free throw for Ottawa Hills with six seconds to go. The Green Bears made 21 of their 30 free throws.

James Silk led Ottawa Hills with 15. Elliot Cummings and John Kight each had 13, and Tyson Chappell had 10.

Ottawa Hills overcame a 37-point performance from Maumee Valley’s (8-3, 3-1) Zeb Jackson. Stephen Coleman had 16 for the Hawks.

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 67, EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 50

Tony Delveaux scored 22 points to lead the Eagles to a TAAC win over the Warriors.

Cole McWhinnie scored 15 points, Max Donawa 12 points, and Trevor Wensink 10 points for Toledo Christian (8-2, 3-1 TAAC).

Jailon Walker scored 18 points for Emmanuel Christian (5-6, 0-4), while Caden Williams added 10 points.

ST. FRANCIS 101, WAITE 38

The Knights (10-2) jumped out to a 26-5 lead and got an easy home win. Jackie Harris had 18 points, Sebastian McClellan added 16, and Jamiya Neal had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

For the Indians (1-11), Vinny Guerrero scored 14 and Mark Randall had 12.  

FREMONT ROSS 54, WOODWARD 37

The Little Giants (2-8) were led by Jabryis Heidelberg with 18 points and Bryce McKinstry with 12 in a nonleague victory.

For the Polar Bears (3-9), Delveon Lear led the way with 12 points.

EVERGREEN 64, ANTHONY WAYNE 59

METAMORA — Bryce Hudik made a layup at the buzzer to send the nonleague game to overtime, then he hit the go-ahead basket with 32 seconds to go in overtime to lead the Vikings to victory over the Generals.

Hudik finished with 15 points. Mason Loeffler had 15 points, while Nic Borojevich and Nate Brighton finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Evergreen (10-1).

Max Denman scored 19 points for Anthony Wayne (9-4). Max Bradfield added 14 points.

WAUSEON 64, MAUMEE 55

The Indians used a balanced scoring night to overtake the Panthers in nonleague play.

Levi Seiler led all scorers with 28 points. Trent Armstrong and Trevor Rodriguez added 13 and 12, respectively for Wauseon.

For Maumee, Luke Metzger led the team with 22. David Walker also had 11.

GENOA 56, WOODMORE 42

ELMORE — The Comets remain unbeaten following a Northern Buckeye Conference victory on the road over the Wildcats.

Jacob Plantz led Genoa (10-0, 7-0 NBC) with 17 points. Andrew Bench scored 12 points, while Mike Rightnowar added 11 points.

Drew Burner scored 25 points for Woodmore (5-7, 1-6).

VERMILION 80, PORT CLINTON 39

PORT CLINTON — The visiting Sailors made 10 3-pointers in a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division victory over the Redskins.

Mason Montgomery scored 22 points for Vermilion (11-2, 7-0 SBC Bay). Jonah Pfeil added 13 points.

Dylan Simpson led Port Clinton (1-11, 0-7) with 14 points.
