Perrysburg girls 4th, boys 5th at OHSAA Pre-Season Cross Country Invitational

OBETZ, Ohio — The Perrysburg cross country teams turned in a couple of top-five finishes Saturday at the OHSAA Pre-Season Cross Country Invitational, held at Fortress Obetz, the site of November’s state finals.

In Division I girls, Perrysburg turned in a fourth-place finish at 183 points, with Mason (93), Hilliard Davidson (99), and Westlake (126) leading the way. St. Ursula (618) was 21st.

Ava Beeks of Perrysburg finished 11th individually in 19 minutes, 19.9 seconds, Four of her teammates placed in the top 50, with Hannah Kersten finishing 38th in 20:18.9, AnnaSophia Gower 40th in 20:21.2, Natalie Sanders 46th in 20:36.9, and Sydney Daudelin 48th in 20:40.9. Katie Clute of Olmsted Falls won the D-I girls race in 17:51.9.

Perrysburg’s boys placed fifth in the D-I boys race with 234 points, with the top four spots going to Springboro (141), Loveland (205), Solon (214), and Hilliard Davidson (229). Anthony Clark paced Perrysburg with a 20th-place finish in 16:42, with Andrew Beeks 47th in 17:11.

Gibsonburg finished tied for 11th in the D-II/D-III/open girls race with 336 points. The Golden Bears’ Emelia Simmons finished 15th in 21:28.9, with teammate Brianna Montgomery placing 20th in 21:46.4. Emmanuel Christian’s Jenna Ramsey was 35th in 22:49.4, with Warriors teammate Vivian Eckloff placing 41st in 23:02.9. Lakota’s Grace Kehn was 45th in 23:04.8.

In the boys D-II/D-III/open race, Gibsonburg was 18th with 468 points, while Lakota was 32nd with 877 points. Gibsonburg’s Anthony Caprara was 24th in 17:29.9.

Oakwood won the D-II/D-III/open girls team competition, with Norwayne’s Jaylee Wingate crossing the finish line first in 18:45.9. Marlington won the D-II/D-III/open boys team competition, with Colin Cernansky (15:57.7) pacing a 1-2-3 individual finish for Marlington.
