High school football: Coleman leads Northwood to victory over Erie Mason

Remontay Coleman rushed for 223 yards and accounted for five touchdowns as host Northwood knocked off Erie Mason 42-20 in a nonleague football game on Friday night.

Coleman had three of his 13 carries go for touchdowns (59 yards, 12, 47), added an 85-yard punt return touchdown, and threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Owens for Northwood (1-3).

Vaughn Brown ran for a 1-yard score and found Cole Kreger for a 60-yard touchdown for Erie Mason (1-2).

Anthony Wayne’s Braden Gardner rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns on Friday.

High school football: Top performers for Week 4

NAPOLEON, Ohio — Braden Gardner rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries to lift the visiting Generals to victory over the Wildcats in a Northern Lakes League crossover game.

Grant Kinnee had 120 rushing yards and one touchdown on 12 carries for Anthony Wayne (3-1).

Lawson Seibel had a 2-yard rushing touchdown for Napoleon (0-4), and Tanner Rubinstein caught a 6-yard scoring pass from Owen Espinoza.

Espinoza was 20 for 33 for the Wildcats for 168 yards.

WHITMER 29, FREMONT ROSS 7

Joey Morales ran for 94 yards with an 11-yard touchdown on 14 carries as the host Panthers won a Northern Lakes League crossover game.

Whitmer (2-2) put up 27 of its points in the first half and added a safety by Jasen Kelly in the third quarter.

Karson Kayden threw for 144 yards on 17 of 32 attempts with a 1-yard touchdown to Tykell Patterson in the fourth quarter for the Little Giants (1-3).

EASTWOOD 63, LAKE 27

PEMBERVILLE, Ohio — Caiden Maize racked up 247 yards on 15 carries, scoring on runs of 33, 62, and 60 yards as the host Eagles topped the Flyers in a Northern Buckeye Conference game.

Andre Lewis turned in 55 receiving yards on four catches with two scores from Kadyn Donnell for Eastwood (3-1, 1-0).

Lake’s Carter Behlmer threw for 283 yards on 22 of 33 attempts with three touchdowns for Lake (1-3, 0-1). Gavin Kohlhofer had a team-high 166 receiving yards on four grabs with a 90-yard score.

GENOA 55, FOSTORIA 14

GENOA, Ohio — Aidan Antry caught three touchdown passes and ran for three more as the Comets rolled to a home Northern Buckeye Conference victory.

Antry ran for 100 yards on six carries, scoring on runs of 4, 45, and 22 yards for Genoa (3-1, 1-0 NBC). He also caught five passes for 126 yards, scoring on completions of 35, 15, and 48 yards.

Genoa quarterback Aiden Brunkhorst completed 14 of 18 passes for 197 yards and the three touchdowns.

Gavin Miller completed 23 of 48 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns, both to Brayden Harrison, for Fostoria (1-3, 0-1). Machi Johnson had four catches for 101 yards.

BRYAN 49, DELTA 28

BRYAN — Jase Kepler ran for three touchdowns in the third quarter as the host Golden Bears put away the Panthers in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League contest.

Kepler ran for 77 yards and the three scores on 12 carries, turning a game that was tied at 14 at halftime into a 20-point Bryan advantage after 36 minutes. He also completed 6 of 12 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Sam Herold ran for 195 yards and two scores on 15 carries for Bryan (3-1, 1-0 NWOAL).

James Ruple ran for two scores for Delta (2-2, 0-1).

PATRICK HENRY 38, EVERGREEN 0

METAMORA, Ohio — Houston Miranda ran for 193 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries as the Patriots shut out the Vikings in Northwest Ohio Athletic League play.

Miranda scored on runs of 32, 70, and 2 yards for Patrick Henry (4-0, 1-0 NWOAL). Landon Johnson had a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown, while Nash Meyer threw a 34-yard touchdown to Thomas Smith.

Max Mossing ran for 75 yards on 14 carries for Evergreen (2-2, 0-1).

NORTH CENTRAL 51, HILLTOP 0

WEST UNITY, Ohio — The visiting Eagles scored 31 points in the second quarter on their way to cruising to victory over the Cadets in a nonconference game.

Cameron Laney rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on five carries, while Joe Burt had 110 rushing yards and two scores on 12 carries for North Central.

Wade Wagner had 48 rushing yards on 15 carries for Hilltop (0-4).

MONTPELIER 39, CARDINAL STRITCH 6

MONTPELIER, Ohio — Hayden Sharps threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Locomotives defeated the visiting Cardinals.

Sharps ran for 44 yards on five carries with scores 9 and 44 yards, while passing for 160 yards (9 of 21) with touchdowns to Brennen Friend (17 yards) and Chavez Martin (43 yards) for Montpelier (3-1).

Thomas Toyer returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown to pull Cardinal Stritch (1-3) within 33-6 in the third quarter.

ARLINGTON 36, ELMWOOD 0

ARLINGTON, Ohio — Elmwood was held to 78 total yards of offense in suffering a Blanchard Valley Conference loss.

The Royals fell to 1-3, 1-1 in the BVC.

Ayden Cavinee had three touchdowns for the Red Devils (2-2, 1-1), runs of 39 and 36 yards and a 21-yard pass from Trenton Heacock.

LIBERTY-BENTON 50, PORT CLINTON 14

FINDLAY — Mason Modd completed 17 of 23 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles (3-1) scored the first 23 points unanswered in their home win.

Seth Elchert caught two of Modd’s scores, including a 65-yard play in the first quarter. Modd also ran for a one-yard touchdown in the third, and L-B’s Jared Wurth ran back an interception 46 yards to the house in the fourth.

The visiting Redskins (2-2) got on the board with Malakii Pinkelton’s 90-yard kick return late in the second quarter and added a Dagan Meyers touchdown run in the third.

WILLARD 35, WOODMORE 30

WILLARD, Ohio — Isaac Robinson completed 28 of 41 passes for 409 yards and three touchdowns as host Willard stopped Woodmore in a Sandusky Bay Conference River Division game.

Harry Meisner caught touchdown passes of 21 and 69 yards for Willard (3-1, 1-0 SBC River).

Jack Caldwell ran for three touchdowns for the visiting Wildcats (1-3, 0-1). Landon Rich ran 10 times for 132 yards, and Michael Seeger had 99 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

GRAND RAPIDS (MICH.) NORTHPOINTE CHR. 48, TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 12

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Eagles (1-2) were competitive during the first half but were shut out after the break as their road trip resulted in a loss.

Tyler Grace completed 14 of 24 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns for Toledo Christian. Both scores went to Karter Koester, who made nine catches for 94 yards.

The Eagles were only outgained 316-293.
