Scott Staten has been named the head football coach at Bryan High School, succeeding Grant Redhead, who stepped away from the Golden Bears' post in November after nine seasons.
“We are thrilled to have coach Staten as our new head coach,” Bryan athletic director Nathan Keel said in a news release. “Scott’s passion for the game, vision for our student-athletes, and attention to detail shined through during this process.”
Staten, who was an assistant coach at Bryan in 2009, served as head coach at Edon from 2010-2019, posting an overall record of 54-49. That included a 43-22 mark in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference, three runner-up conference finishes, and three playoff appearances.
“We will build young student-athletes that are going to be positive contributors to society and, through football, become the best version of themselves,” Staten stated in the release. “We will emphasize hard work, discipline, and accountability, and focus on the process. The outcomes will take care of themselves.
“I am extremely excited for this opportunity, and cannot wait to give back to such a supportive community with the product we put on the field on Friday nights.”
Redhead was 43-50 at Bryan from 2015-2023, a span that included a 30-33 record in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League, and four playoff appearances.
