High school football: Maumee nabs victory against Genoa

Maumee put up the first 24 points and delivered visiting Genoa its first Northern Buckeye Conference football loss 33-13 Friday.

Cody Wulf racked up a game-high 218 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries to lead the Panthers (5-2, 2-2 NBC). Wulf scored from 2 yards out in the fourth quarter to put Maumee ahead 33-7 with 7:45 remaining.

Ben Kubicz completed 2 of 5 passing attempts — both for touchdowns. His 61-yard strike went to Carson Graetz, who also had a 27-yard rushing score, before finding Donovan Mays from 17 yards out.

Myles Mollenhauer threw for 213 yards and a touchdown on 14 of 25 attempts to pace the Comets (5-2, 3-1 NBC). Alex Spencer led with 90 yards and five catches, including a 5-yard touchdown.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 56, ST. JOHN'S JESUIT 21

A 28-point first quarter set the tone for the Fighting Irish's Catholic High School League Central Division victory over the Titans.

Tyler Morgan (54 yards, six carries) ran for two touchdowns and Isaiah Fox (13-14, 235 yards) completed two touchdown passes in the first quarter for Central Catholic (6-1, 3-1 CHSL).

Levell Stokes recorded three catches for 90 yards and a score. Curtis Strode (19 yards) and Michael Besteda (50 yards) each had fumble recoveries in the second half that went for Irish touchdowns against St. John's Jesuit (0-7, 0-3).

WHITEFORD 65, ERIE MASON 8

OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford's Brek Ruddy rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown to help the host Bobcats cruise to a win over the Eagles in a Tri-County Conference matchup.

Trenton Eitniear added a pair of touchdowns on the ground, as did Andy Trejo for Whiteford (3-3, 1-1 Tri-County).

Phoenix Stefko caught three passes for 79 yards and a score for Erie Mason (1-5, 0-1).

MONTPELIER 41, RICHMOND HEIGHTS 6

MONTPELIER, Ohio — Hayden Sharps passed for 247 yards and five touchdowns as Montpelier (2-5) cruised to a home win.

Sharps was 12-of-16 passing and found Jaxon Stahler for TD passes of 28 and 24 yards, Griffin Cooley for a 41-yard TD, Wesley Hartsock for a 56-yard TD, and Kam Smith for a 7-yard TD.

Cooley also scored on a 27-yard run.

HOLGATE 54, SEBRING McKINLEY 0

HOLGATE, Ohio — Zack Boecker threw for five touchdowns, all in the first half, as the host Tigers defeated Sebring McKinley in a Northern 8 Football Conference game.

Boecker completed 5 of 8 passes for 123 yards. Rickey Buckley caught two passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, Isaac Mendoza had two catches for 37 yards and two scores, and Alexavier Alvarez and Jerett Engle also had touchdown receptions.

Brody McMillen and Ethan Showalter had touchdown runs for Holgate (5-0, 4-0 N8FC) against McKinley (1-4, 0-4).

DELTA 21, WAUSEON 14

WAUSEON — The visiting Panthers took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and kept the Indians at arm's length the rest of the way in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory.

Emric Friess threw two touchdowns for Delta (6-1, 3-1) on 6-of-8 passing. Otis Flowers returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to score the first points for Wauseon (2-5, 2-2).

EVERGREEN 22, BRYAN 7

METAMORA, Ohio — Max Mossing rushed 19 times for 105 yards, Colton Robertson added 10 rushes for 72 yards and a touchdown, and Will Ruetz had six rushes for 70 yards and two touchdowns as Evergreen (4-3, 2-2 Northwest Ohio Athletic League) won at home.

Ruetz scored on runs of 9 and 32 yards and Robertson rushed in from 3 yards out.

Cade Carlin had 24 rushing yards and a touchdown for Bryan (0-6, 0-4).

ARCHBOLD 45, SWANTON 0

SWANTON — Tristan Wyse had 11 carries for 93 yards and a pair of TD runs as Archbold moved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the NWOAL.

Ryder Ryan had a pair of touchdown runs, Evan Wendt returned an interception for a score, Ashton Stuckey had TD run, and teammate Kurt Krueger completed 7 of 9 passes for 53 yards.

Rudy Rodger connected on a field goal and five extra point kicks.

Swanton's Drake Harris had 10 carries for 41 yards.

EASTWOOD 51, FOSTORIA 0

PEMBERVILLE, Ohio — A 30-point second quarter helped the host Eagles shut out the Redmen in a Northern Buckeye Conference game.

Kevin Lewis and Cam Schumaker both ran for two touchdowns for Eastwood (6-1, 4-0 NBC), while Kadyn Donnell (81 yards, four carries) also had a touchdown run.

Drew Luidhardt (8 of 15, 129 yards) connected on a 47-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Lauer, and the defense contributed a safety and a Connor Norton 27-yard strip and score against Fostoria (1-6, 0-4).

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 50, DANBURY 8

Tyler Grace was 8-of-8 passing for 236 yards and three touchdowns to lead Toledo Christian to a win over Danbury at Start High School in Northern 8 Conference play.

Karter Koester hauled in four passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (6-0, 4-0 Northern 8), while Josiah Hillrich added two catches for 87 yards and a touchdown catch.

Drew Lachmiller had a 55-yard TD run for Toledo Christian, Thombias Boyce scored from 7 yards out, Sam Anderson scored on a 58-yard run, and Jack Deters added a 75-yard scoring run.

Drake Turinsky turned in a 62-yard TD run for Danbury (2-4, 2-3 Northern 8).

OTTAWA HILLS 76, HILLTOP 6

The host Green Bears' Chase Miller threw for nearly 300 (298) yards and seven touchdowns in a rout of the Cadets in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference contest.

Rocco Pillarelli rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown, while Reddik Pillarelli tacked on 98 yards receiving and a pair of scores for Ottawa Hills (6-1, 2-0 TAAC).

Hilltop fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the TAAC.

OAK HARBOR 31, OTSEGO 0

TONTOGANY, Ohio — The unbeaten and visiting Rockets outgained the Knights 422-111 in total yardage and picked up a NBC victory.

Michael Lalonde threw for 197 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-15 passing and also ran for 75 yards on eight carries with a 15-yard score. Tyler Thompson caught seven passes for 127 yards with a 47-yard score from Lalonde for the Rockets (7-0, 4-0 NBC).

Oak Harbor's Carson Ridener also ran for 91 yards and a 26-yard touchdown on 11 carries.

Keeghan Hutton's 38 rushing yards on 11 carries led Otsego (4-3, 2-2).

LIBERTY-BENTON 38, PANDORA-GILBOA 21

FINDLAY — Zach Elchert totaled over 200 yards of offense and two touchdowns to help the host Eagles defeat the Rockets in a battle of Blanchard Valley Conference unbeatens.

Elchert ran for a game-high 188 yards and touchdowns of 36 and 23 yards on 21 carries, while catching a team-high five passes for 47 yards.

Trevin Lieb completed 15 of 26 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns to one interception. Conner Barbara had two of those touchdowns (40 yards, 25), finishing with 80 yards on four grabs for the Eagles (6-1, 5-0 BVC).

Pandora-Gilboa dropped to 4-3, 4-1 in league play.

ARLINGTON 63, ELMWOOD 26

BLOOMDALE, Ohio — Arlington outscored Elmwood 42-0 in the second half to claim a BVC road victory.

Drew Metzger ran for four touchdowns for Arlington (4-3, 3-3), while Trenton Heacock opened scoring with a 35-yard touchdown run and closed things out with a 38-yard punt return for a score. Brady Griggs ran a punt back 70 yards for a score.

Brady Mareches had an 82-yard kickoff return for a score and a 22-yard touchdown reception for Elmwood (0-7, 0-5). Owen Traxler threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, all in the first half.

NAPOLEON 49, BOWSHER 6

Trey Rubinstein scored four touchdowns in four different ways as Napoleon (4-3) won at Bowsher.

Rubinstein caught a 28-yard TD pass from Owen Espinoza, recovered a fumble in the end zone, returned a punt 58 yards for a score, and returned an interception for a 36-yard TD.

Espinoza finished 10-of-16 passing for 207 yards and a touchdown. George Eggers rushed 15 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and Hayden Groll added a 24-yard TD run.

Jordan Singer scored on a 27-yard run for Bowsher (2-5).

SALINE 48, BEDFORD 3

SALINE, Mich. — After learning this week that it would have to forfeit three games because of the use of an ineligible player, previously unbeaten Saline bounced back with a dominating second-half performance against Bedford in Southeastern Conference Red Division action.

Saline (3-3, 3-2 SEC) outscored the Kicking Mules 36-3 in the second half after leading 12-0 at halftime.

James Rush ran for three Saline touchdowns, all in the second half. He finished with 87 yards on 13 carries. Quarterback Tommy Carr completed 21 of 34 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns, and receiver Lincoln Keyes caught nine passes for 143 yards and two scores.

Jack Decker connected on a 53-yard field goal for Bedford (3-3, 3-2).

BOWLING GREEN 21, SOUTHVIEW 14

BOWLING GREEN — Ja'ceous Shannon scored all three touchdowns for the Bobcats in a win over the visiting Cougars in a Northern Lakes League Cardinal Division meeting.

On the ground, Shannon totaled 92 yards on 14 carries and two TDs, plus had a score through the air for Bowling Green (4-3, 1-1 NLL Cardinal).

Will Mayzes ran in a 55-yard TD, had a 2-point conversion and connected with Dalen Selmon for a 22-yard passing score for Southview (3-4, 0-1).

START 52, WAITE 6

The visitors improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the City League. Waite fell to 0-7 on the season and 0-4 in league games.

LIMA SENIOR 37, ROGERS 6

LIMA — The Spartans stand at 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in the City League. Rogers ended the night (2-5 overall and 2-2 in league play.

ANTHONY WAYNE 34, FINDLAY 25

The hosts moved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the NLL Buckeye Division encounters. Findlay dropped to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in the league.

SPRINGFIELD 21, NORTHVIEW 0

The hosts ended the night 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the NLL Buckeye Division. Northview fell to 0-7 on the season and 0-2 in the league.

CLAY 42, FREMONT ROSS 35

FREMONT — the visitors improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the NLL Cardinal Division. Ross is 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in division play.

EASTWOOD 51, FOSTORIA 0

PEMBERVILLE, Ohio — The hosts moved to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in NBC games. Fostoria stands at 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

LAKE 17, ROSSFORD 7

The Flyers improved to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the NBC. Host Rossford fell to 1-6 on the year and 0-4 in the conference.

EDON 37, NORTHWOOD 6

The visitors stand at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference. Northwood fell to 3-4 on the season and 0-2 in the TAAC.

OTTAWA HILLS 76, HILLTOP 6

The host Green Bears to to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the TAAC while Hilltop is 1-5 after its conference opener.

VAN BUREN 29, ARCADIA 14

ARCADIA, Ohio — Van Buren stands at 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the BVC. Arcadia stumbled to 0-7 on the season and 0-5 in the conference.

LEIPSIC 30, McCOMB 27

LEIPSIC, Ohio — The hosts go to 5-2 on the year and 4-1 in the BVC. McComb fell to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

VERMILION 36, PORT CLINTON 27

PORT CLINTON — The visitors go to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division. The host fall to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in division encounters.

GIBSONBURG 55, LAKOTA 7

GIBSONBURG, Ohio — The hosts go to 5-2 on the year and 3-1 in SBC River Division play. Lakota is 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the division.
