High school girls basketball: Perrysburg locks down late for district semifinal win

Second-seeded Perrysburg limited third-seeded Whitmer to just four points in the fourth quarter en route to a 57-40 victory Wednesday in the Divsion I district girls basketball semifinal at Central Catholic.

Lauren McConnachie notched a game-high 18 points for Perrysburg (14-9). Addy Byrne tacked on 14 points.

Nikki Deiley scored 14 points and Adalyn Johnson added 11 points for Whitmer (9-14).

Perrysburg advances to face No. 1 seed Findlay at 1 p.m. Saturday for the district title.

MILLBURY, Ohio — The top-seeded Generals scored 64 points in the first half en route to victory over the sixth-seeded Cougars.

Elise Bender scored 27 points for Anthony Wayne, while Leah Pike and Brooke Bender both scored 18. The Generals (20-2) take on fifth-seeded Clay in a 1 p.m. district final Saturday at Lake.

Mikayla Dorn led Southview (6-17) with seven points.

MILLBURY, Ohio — Jade Latson’s game-high 23 points propelled the No. 3 Spartans to a victory over the fourth-seeded Little Giants in a district semifinal.

Start (18-4) next takes on No. 2 seed Northview at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lake in the district final.

Ava Jones scored 12 points to pace Fremont Ross (10-13).

The top-seeded Eagles rolled past the seventh-seeded Arrows (2-20) into Saturday’s 4 p.m. district final at Northwood.

Notre Dame (18-6) will take on fifth-seeded Central Catholic on Saturday.

 

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 52, MAUMEE 35

The Fighting Irish had four players reach double figures in knocking off the third-seeded Panthers in a district semifinal at Northwood.

Serinity Bolden led the way with 13 points, Marissa Justen tacked on 11 points, and Nina Stevens and Maddie Stricker 10 each for Central Catholic (8-15).

Lucy Porter tallied a game-high 19 points to pace Maumee (17-7).

MILLER CITY, Ohio — The second-seeded Indians needed overtime to get past the third-seeded Golden Bears.

Sophia Rupp scored 12 points for Wauseon (20-4), who will play top-seeded Kenton at 2 p.m. Saturday in the district final at Miller City.

Bryan (13-11) got 11 points each from Amiyah Langham and Josey Arnold.

LAKE 45, FOSTORIA 42

KANSAS, Ohio — The No. 7 Flyers pulled off another upset, this time knocking fellow Northern Buckeye Conference foe and the fourth-seeded Redmen in a district semifinal at Lakota.

Lake previously defeated top-seeded Oak Harbor 44-40 in a sectional final Feb. 13.

McKinly Johnston notched 15 points while Brooke Wiley tacked on 11 for the victorious Flyers (9-15).

Alycia Middlebrooks registered a game-high 22 points for Fostoria (13-11).

Lake takes on third-seeded Liberty-Benton at 1 p.m. Saturday in a district final.

KANSAS, Ohio — Megan Gerken scored 26 points as Liberty-Benton rolled past second-seeded Genoa (18-6).

Corra Dehart put in 13 points and Ally Ferris 12 as the victorious Eagles improved to 14-10.

DEFIANCE — Fourth-seeded Paulding clipped second-seeded Delta (19-3) in a district semifinal.

Paulding (19-5) advances to face top-seeded Ottawa-Glandorf at 7 p.m. Saturday in a district final at Defiance.

 

MICHIGAN REGULAR SEASON

DEXTER 51, BEDFORD 41

DEXTER, Mich. — A strong second quarter allowed Dexter to pull even with Bedford at 12-1 in Southeastern Conference Red Division play.

Victoria Gray had 19 points for Bedford (17-2 overall).
