High school girls basketball: Ottawa Hills gains spot in district final

No. 1 seed Patrick Henry awaits

NAPOLEON — Fifth-seeded Ottawa Hills upended third-seeded Defiance Tinora 56-38 on Thursday in the semifinals of the Division VI girls basketball district tournament at Napoleon High School.

Ottawa Hills (15-9) will face No. 1 seed Patrick Henry in the district championship game at 2 p.m. Saturday at Napoleon.

Tinora finished with a 13-10 record.

PATRICK HENRY 60, EVERGREEN 17

NAPOLEON — A 26-1 third-quarter advantage slammed the door shut as the top-seeded Patriots blew away the the fourth-seeded Vikings.

Carys Crossland scored 25 points, Ada Christman added 16 points, and Kasey Nelson 11 for Patrick Henry (23-1).

Evergreen closes the season at 11-11.

GIBSONBURG 37, TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 29

BOWLING GREEN — Second-seeded Gibsonburg rallied from an early 8-3 deficit, outscoring No. 4 seed Toledo Christian 26-14 across the second and third quarters, to advance in the Division VI Bowling Green High School district.

Elly Evarts scored 18 points and had nine rebounds and Ava Dawson had 10 points for Gibsonburg (19-5), who will face top-seeded Carey at 6 p.m. Saturday at Bowling Green.

Annalise Massell paced Toledo Christian (11-13) with nine points.

BOWLING GREEN — The Blue Devils outscored the Wildcats 22-12 in the fourth quarter to advance.

Rachel Reinhart had 23 points and Riley Yost scored 13 for Carey. Camille Strong led third-seeded Woodmore (16-8) with 10 points.

HILLTOP 50, FAYETTE 19

BRYAN — The top-seeded Cadets got a game-high 25 points from Libbie Baker in a district semifinal win over fellow Buckeye Border Conference foe Fayette.

Molly Dickinson added 11 points for Hilltop (19-3), who next faces third-seeded Edgerton at noon Saturday in a district final at Bryan High School.

Fayette ends its season at 11-11.

BRYAN — Edgerton improved to 14-11 with its district semifinal victory.

Fourth-seeded Stryker wrapped up a 10-12 season.

 

OTTAWA-GLANDORF DISTRICT

McCOMB 49, MILLER CITY 35

OTTAWA, Ohio — Second-seeded McComb outscored top seed Miller City in every quarter to advance in the Division VII Ottawa-Glandorf district.

Kelsey Jenkins scored 13 points and Rylee Scheff 10 for McComb (19-5), which advances to face No. 3 seed Kalida in Saturday’s noon district final.

Lou Michel paced Miller City (16-8) with 13 points.

KALIDA 58, NORTH BALTIMORE 25

OTTAWA, Ohio — Kalida (16-6) topped fourth-seeded North Baltimore to advance.

North Baltimore finishes with a 16-8 record.

 

FOSTORIA DISTRICT

ARCADIA 30, ARLINGTON 27

FOSTORIA — Second-seeded Arcadia edged No. 3 seed Arlington in a Blanchard Valley Conference matchup at Fostoria High School to reach Saturday’s noon district final against top-seeded Tiffin Calvert.

Arcadia is now 17-7. Arlington ended its season at 9-15.

 

SHELBY DISTRICT

DANBURY 65, LUCAS 27

SHELBY, Ohio — Top-seeded Danbury rolled past No. 3 Lucas to reach Saturday’s 1 p.m. district final at Shelby High School against second-seeded Attica Seneca East.

Danbury is now 21-3. Lucas wrapped up a 14-9 season.
