Perrysburg's Blaze, Findlay's Simmons honored by Ohio wrestling coaches

Perrysburg’s Marcus Blaze and Findlay’s Kate Simmons were named the outstanding wrestlers in their divisions by the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association, the organization announced Friday night.

Blaze won his fourth Division I championship at last week’s state finals in Columbus, claiming the 150-pound title with a 17-2 technical fall over Lakewood St. Edward’s Bradley Eaton. All of his state tournament bouts were won by pin or technical fall.

Simmons won the 170-pound girls championship, pinning Loveland’s Elizabeth Madison in 1:22. She recorded four pinfalls in Columbus.
