GROSSE ILE, Mich. - Two people aboard a small plane were rescued from the Detroit River after their craft crashed into the water shortly after it took off from the Grosse Ile airport yesterday, authorities said.
The U.S. Coast Guard said the unidentified pair were not hurt in the incident, which was reported at 1:52 p.m. Grosse Ile police, first on the scene, got them out of the water.
The accident's cause remains under investigation, and the wreckage was being examined for salvage.
