HOUSTON — To hear Jim Harbaugh tell it, the Michigan coach has one thing on his mind and one thing only — ”the big ring.”
“As that song the young people listen to goes,” he said.
All other questions and concerns will have to wait.
Harbaugh on Saturday continued to shut down speculation about his next steps, saying he’ll talk about his plans after Monday night’s national championship game.
“I'll gladly talk about the future next week,” he said at College Football Playoff media day in advance of the top-ranked Wolverines’ showdown against Washington. “I hope to have one, how about that? A future, I hope to have one, yes.”
Asked if the result of the game will impact his decision, Harbaugh said, “I have no idea about that. I couldn't be more happy to be here. They do everything big in Texas, and this is cool. This is right where we want to be. This is where we worked to be.”
Harbaugh is expected to be a candidate for several NFL jobs, including in Los Angeles, where he is the betting favorite to be the next coach of the Chargers. He has not signed a reported 10-year, $125 million contract extension on the table from Michigan and recently hired Don Yee as his agent. Yee represents Tom Brady and has strong NFL connections.
