PAPILLION, Neb. — The Toledo Mud Hens recorded 13 hits but lost a slugfest 13-8 to the Omaha Storm Chasers on Saturday at Werner Park.
Michael Lorenzen (0-1), on a rehab start from Detroit, gave up four earned runs in 2⅓ innings on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Will Vest gave up four earned runs in 1⅔ innings of relief, and Ashton Goudeau surrendered five earned runs over three innings.
Freddy Fermin led the offensive charge for Omaha (5-3) with a 3-for-4 day with two homers and six RBIs. Marcelo Martinez (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
Justyn-Henry Malloy was 2-for-4 for Toledo (4-4) with three RBIs. Zack Short had a three-hit day, Andy Ibanez was 2-for-5, and catcher Donny Sands drove in two runs.
Prior to Saturday's game, the Tigers recalled outfielder Akil Baddoo from Toledo, and Baddoo started in left field for Detroit against the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Field.
Baddoo's promotion came after the Tigers placed Austin Meadows on the 10-day injured list with anxiety.
The teams close out their six-game set on Sunday with the first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m.
