A Round Rock throwing error helped the Hens tie it in the ninth as Alfonzo reached on the errant throw, then Jack Dunn’s RBI single evened the score at 3.
In the home half of the ninth, Round Rock advanced the potential winning run to second base when Toledo reliever Ryan Miller lost his command for a bit with two outs. But he rebounded to induce a ground ball off the bat of Sam Haggerty, sending the game to extra innings.
Round Rock got to Manning in the bottom of the third inning. Number nine hitter Alex De Goti led off with a double, and was brought home when Haggerty followed with a sharp single to left field. Haggerty later stole second with one out recorded, then Blaine Crim’s single brought home Haggerty for a 2-0 Express lead.
Justin Foscue’s two-out double got the Express going in the fifth, and Crim scored Foscue with a line drive single that made it 3-0. Crim went 2 for 4 with a walk and two runs batted in for the Express, while Hicklen finished 2 for 6 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs for the Hens.
