Former Oklahoma commit spurns Sooners for Ohio State

COLUMBUS — Ryan Watts, a four-star cornerback for the class of 2020, committed to Ohio State two weeks after de-committing from Oklahoma.

The Texas native is the 19th-best cornerback in the country, according to 247Sports. Watts visited OSU for the Miami of Ohio game and made his decision to de-commit one week later.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound defender is the 24th commit for the class of 2020, which ranks third nationally. The class is heavy on defensive backs — Watts is the fourth — but Ohio State could lose Jeffrey Okudah, Damon Arnette, and Shaun Wade after this season.

Watts chose Ohio State over offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Penn State. He had 35 total offers.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day works with his team against Florida Atlantic in an NCAA college football game Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, in Columbus.
