2020 Ohio State commit ranked No. 1 by ESPN

Ohio State has the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit.

For now.

ESPN’s updated 2020 Top 300 recruiting rankings have five-star wide receiver Julian Fleming at No. 1, usurping running back Zachary Evans, who is uncommitted.

Fleming, a Pennsylvania native, is the state’s all-time leader in career receiving yards (3,763) and receiving touchdowns (50).

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, left, escapes the grasp of Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie during a game this season. The Buckeyes carry a 6-0 record into Friday's game at Northwestern.

He would make more history if he held onto the top spot in the recruiting rankings. The last time a wide receiver was No 1 on the ESPN list was, well, never. Percy Harvin (2006) and Julio Jones (2008) each finished second in their respective classes.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Fleming spurned Penn State for the Buckeyes in May.
