COLUMBUS — Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins tweeted on Monday he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL draft.
“Dear Ohio State,” he wrote in a posted graphic. “Thank you for everything. Coming to Ohio from Texas has been nothing short of a dream. I’ve built relationships that will last me a lifetime at this great university. I’ve created bonds with my brothers on the teams for the past 3 years that will never be broken.”

After addressing “Buckeye Nation” and dishing out thank-yous to his athletic trainers and coaches, Dobbins wrote, “The state of Ohio and the city of Columbus will always have a special place in my heart. With that being said and, after a tough decision, I’ll be forgoing my senior season and will enter the 2020 NFL draft.”
Dobbins captioned the tweet with “I will forever be a buckeye!”
Dobbins leaves Ohio State as the program’s second-leading rusher behind two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin. Dobbins amassed 4,459 yards, 6.2 yards per carry, and ran for 38 touchdowns in three seasons. He also caught 71 passes for 645 yards and five scores in his career.
He rushed for a school-record 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns in the 2019 season, finishing second and tied for third, respectively, in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision. He finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting.
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay had Dobbins going in the first round at No. 31 in his first mock draft.
