Toledo boxer Jared Anderson to fight on Fury-Wilder III undercard in July

Toledo native Jared Anderson will appear on his most notable fight card yet.

Top Rank Boxing revealed in a news release that the dominant and undefeated heavyweight boxer will appear on the undercard for the televised pay-per-view headlined by the third heavyweight clash between Deontay Wilder and reigning WBC and lineal heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury on July 24 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

In his previous bout April 10, “The Real Big Baby” Anderson scored a second-round knockout of Jeremiah Karpency to move his unblemished record to 9-0, all victories via KO.

He has five first-round knockouts under his belt, but his next test might prove to be a taller one than in previous fights.

Anderson will oppose Russian Vladimir Tereshkin in what is being advertised as the pay-per-view opener. Tereshkin, a 14-year-veteran standing at 6-foot-6, is 22-0-1 with 12 knockouts in his career. He has won 14 consecutive fights.

The 21-year-old Anderson was one of the nationally recognized breakout performers in the MGM Grand Las Vegas bubble with the Top Rank promotion over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, notching five wins. He closed his run in the bubble with a knockout of Kingsley Ibeh in February that went viral online and was showcased on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

The Wilder vs. Fury III fight is sure to gain worldwide attention. Reports following the Wilder vs. Fury II bout in Feb. 2020 estimated that between 800-850,000 North Americans purchased it. Fury (30-0-1) scored a seventh-round technical knockout to reclaim his heavyweight title from Wilder. In their first fight in Dec. 2018, the champion Wilder (42-1-1) retained via draw, setting the stage for the rematch in 2020.
