BUFFALO — Fostoria native and 12-year NFL safety Micah Hyde announced his retirement from football Tuesday, ending a career that included two second-team All-Pro honors and one Pro Bowl selection.
“So much LOVE and way too many THANKS!” Hyde, 34, wrote in an Instagram post. “From Fostoria to Iowa City to Green Bay to Buffalo, the goal was to leave an impact.”

Hyde had a standout high school career at Fostoria, where he played defensive back, quarterback, kicker, and punter. After graduating in 2009, he went to college at Iowa, where he was a first-team All-Big Ten honoree in 2012. The Green Bay Packers selected him in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft.
After four years in Green Bay, Hyde signed with the Buffalo Bills in free agency and remained with the franchise for the rest of his career, helping the team become a powerhouse in the AFC. After missing parts of the 2022 and 2023 seasons with injuries and becoming a free agent, he joined Buffalo’s practice squad in December, 2024, but did not see any game action.
Hyde played in 158 games in his pro career and racked up 24 interceptions, five forced fumbles, and 644 total tackles. Off the field, he started the Imagine for Youth Foundation, which helps provide academic and athletic opportunities to financially disadvantaged children.
