What a difference one week makes.
Toledo isn’t in South Bend anymore. Even in defeat last week, the Rockets showed many reasons to believe. After a dreadful 22-6 loss to Colorado State, the good feelings have evaporated.
Third quarter
One week after nearly beating then-No. 8 Notre Dame, Toledo finds itself struggling to beat a two-touchdown underdog.
The Rocket offense has been anemic from their opening possession, producing six points through three quarters. And Colorado State hasn’t been much better — the Rams have 210 yards.
The long touchdown is a 70-yard punt return that gave Colorado State its 13-6 lead.
Second quarter
Toledo and Colorado State are tied 3-3 at halftime.
Rocket kicker Thomas Cluckey made a 43-yard field goal as the offense struggles to sustain drives. UT has rushed for 16 yards on 10 carries. Carter Bradley is 12-of-18 passing for 129 yards.
Colorado State was limited to 44 yards and three first downs in the second quarter.
First quarter
The hangover that Jason Candle said would not exist has arrived at the Glass Bowl, where Toledo trails 14.5-point underdog Colorado State 3-0.
The Rockets have been stagnant on offense, producing two first downs and nine rushing yards on seven carries. Quarterbacks Carter Bradley and Dequan Finn are a combined 3-of-8 passing for 29 yards.
Colorado State tight end Trey McBride, rated by some of the top tight end for the 2022 NFL draft, has three receptions for 32 yards.
