Kyle Jones and Connor Brandon are officially professional baseball players.
The former Toledo Rockets have signed their contracts with the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets, respectively.
Jones, who was drafted by the Twins in the seventh round, signed for $176,700, nearly $60,000 below the slotted amount.
Brandon, a 17th-round selection, signed for $200,000 — $75,000 above his slot value.
In 2022, Jones was 7-3 with a 4.24 earned run average in 91.1 innings pitched. He ranked second in the MAC in strikeouts and innings pitched, fifth in ERA, and tied for sixth in opponents’ batting average (.240). He had eight starts with at least eight strikeouts.
Brandon was 7-5 with a 4.76 ERA. He was second on the Rockets with 88 strikeouts in 75⅔ innings pitched, ranked fourth in the MAC in strikeouts, sixth in ERA, and he had two games with at least 10 strikeouts.
