Toledo is down a football coach.
Linebackers coach Pat Bastien is going to the New York Jets to be an offensive assistant, a change of pace for the 30-year-old, who’s coached exclusively on defense.
Bastien came to Toledo just prior to spring practice and leaves without ever coaching a game.
He has been a defensive graduate assistant, coached linebackers and cornerbacks, and served as assistant director of player development. His coaching stops include Central Florida (2014-15), Georgia Southern (2016-17), Southern (2018), Georgia (2018-19), Marshall (2020), and Western Kentucky (2021).
Bastien was at UCF with current Jets quarterbacks coach Rob Calabrese.
In 2017, 247Sports named Bastien to its 30 under 30 list.
Bastien’s move to New York was first reported by Bruce Feldman of the Athletic.
