The Toledo women’s basketball non-conference schedule is set, and it’s a fan’s delight.
Head coach Tricia Cullop signed up for the grind, but it doesn’t lessen the difficulty.
“Our 2023-24 non-conference schedule will be the toughest we’ve played at Toledo in my tenure,” Cullop said.
The Rockets have several intriguing matchups, including home games against Michigan (Dec. 6) and Cincinnati (Nov. 19). Toledo will travel to Gonzaga (Nov. 12) and Duke (Dec. 20).
In all, UT will play four NCAA tournament teams — Michigan, Gonzaga, Duke, and James Madison, which hosts the Rockets in the season opener Nov. 8 in the inaugural MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
Toledo will play a Sun Belt school on Feb. 10 at Savage Arena.
“We’re excited for the challenge of playing Gonzaga, Duke, SMU, and James Madison on the road and thrilled to bring both Michigan and Cincinnati to Savage Arena,” Cullop said. “I hope our Rocket fans will buy their tickets early for what should prove to be a very fun season. Last year we were 24th in the country in attendance. I’d love to see us climb into the top 20.”
The Rockets open the season with consecutive road games against James Madison and Gonzaga. The home opener at Savage Arena is Nov. 19 versus Cincinnati.
They play SMU (Nov. 24) and North Dakota State (Nov. 25) in the San Diego Classic.
UT returns home for back-to-back home games against Michigan (Dec. 6) and Loyola Maryland (Dec. 10), then travels to Oakland (Dec. 17) and Duke (Dec. 20).
The Rockets host Hillsdale on Dec. 30.
Toledo will attempt series sweeps against Michigan, Cincinnati, and Loyola after defeating all three teams last season. The Rockets fell to Duke at home last November.
Tickets are on sale at the ticket office at Savage Arena, by calling 419-530-4653, or online at UTRockets.com/tix.
