Toledo football recruit Osborne named Michigan Mr. Football finalist

WATERFORD, Mich. — Kalieb Osborne, a dual-threat senior quarterback from Waterford Mott High School in Michigan and a University of Toledo football commit, was named one of four finalists for the 2023 Michigan Mr. Football award on Friday.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal caller, who is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports, racked up more than 5,000 total yards of offense in helping Waterford Mott finish 10-3 during the 2023 season. The Corsairs won 10 games in a season for the first time, according to the website michigan-football.com, and won an MHSAA Division 2, Region 3 championship before falling to Warren De La Salle 45-19 in last week’s state semifinals.

Osborne, who verbally committed to Toledo in February, threw for 3,532 yards, 34 touchdowns, and five interceptions on 224 of 307 passing this season. He also had 1,865 yards and 25 touchdowns on 214 rushing attempts.

He finished in the top 10 in MHSAA history for passing yards in a season, and had three games with at least 300 passing yards and at least 200 rushing yards.

Mason running back A.J. Martel, Southfield A&T quarterback Isaiah Marshall, and Belleville five-star junior quarterback Bryce Underwood were named finalists for the award as well. The winner of the award will be announced after the MHSAA state finals.
