Hey, it’s never too early to look into the future.
One day after the conclusion of the 2024 NFL draft, let’s peek ahead to 2025. The forecast for Toledo head coach Jason Candle looks busy.
The Rockets won 11 consecutive games last season and had a first-round draft pick, but they are loaded again this year. Three players are virtual shoo-ins to be picked.
Here’s a run down of how UT might fare in the 2025 NFL draft.
Anthony Torres, TE
Torres caught a pass in 12 of 14 games, and in the final eight games, he had 18 receptions for 348 yards and three touchdowns (and two 2-point conversions). At the NFL combine, Torres’ name came up in a conversation about future Toledo draft picks.
Maxen Hook, S
Hook is coming off of a 2023 campaign that saw him claim first team All-MAC distinction. At 6-foot and 205 pounds, Hook was third on the Rockets with 69 tackles and provided three interceptions.
Jerjuan Newton, WR
Newton is one of the most prolific touchdown catchers in Toledo history. Newton has been All-MAC the past two seasons at receiver including a first-team nod last season. He led the Rockets in the passing game with 52 catches for 696 receiving yards and a MAC-leading nine touchdown receptions. He hauled in three TD passes against Western Michigan and started the season with at least one TD in each of his first six games.
