Tyler Cochran’s offseason travels aren’t done yet.
After entering the transfer portal in March and picking an unlikely destination (Oregon State), the former Toledo men’s basketball player has reopened his recruitment, according to multiple reports Friday.
Cochran will now be looking for his fifth school in five years, joining Northern Illinois, Ball State, Toledo, and Oregon State. But the 6-foot-2, 225-pound guard will be in demand.
Last season, Cochran averaged 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.9 steals for UT. He was named the co-defensive player of the year in the Mid-American Conference, and he shot nearly 50 percent from the floor.
As a redshirt sophomore at Ball State, Cochran led the MAC in steals.
Oregon State reported Cochran signed with the Beavers on May 3.
“Tyler is a great addition to our program,” Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle said at the time. “He’s as versatile and dynamic a guard as we’ve had in a while. A true three-level scorer as well as playmaker, he has great court vision and is a willing passer. Tyler’s size and strength will allow him to play multiple positions on and off the ball, and those traits along with his competitiveness make him a terrific defender as well. We’re excited to be adding him to our team. He will really add to our physicality and maturity.”
Now, Cochran is taking his talents elsewhere.
