The Toledo Walleye have brought back Sylvania native Gordi Myer to the team.
Myer, 27, a defenseman who played two seasons for the Walleye, retired in June.
Myer, who appeared in 121 games for Toledo in 2021-22 and 2022-23, had 48 points for the Walleye. He scored nine goals to go along with 39 assists, and had 30 penalty minutes during his Walleye career.
In 2021-22, Myer helped the Walleye reach the Kelly Cup Finals. Myer, who played at Ohio State University, has not played this year.
Last January, Myer represented the Walleye at the ECHL all-star game.
He announced his retirement in June to attend law school at Cleveland State University.
The signing was made necessary after Walleye defenseman Will Cullen left the team to go play overseas in Europe on Wednesday. Cullen was Toledo's second-leading scorer among defensemen with 15 points in 28 games.
The Walleye also signed forward Grant Loven, who has been playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League, on Thursday.
Loven has skated in 24 games this year with Fayetteville of the SPHL. He has 21 points with eight goals and 13 assists.
A native of East Grand Forks, Minn., Loven played two seasons at Northern Michigan University and one at Canisius College. In 148 college games, Loven had 18 goals and 29 assists. The 26-year-old is in his first pro season.
